Description Vladimir Romanov (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2013-02-17 04:33:19 UTC
I've translating ARM version of handbook to Russian, and i have a question about one term:

In Using NeTTrom section, there is text about 'embedding kernel in flash'. What is this flash? It is some flash device? Is the firmware on the same flash? Can we write that we simply 'embedding kernel in firmware'? Or is it some other flash?

Reproducible: Always

It is a flash device in the computer afaik, but i'll add ARM team in Cc so they can confirm.

yes, the netwinder has a one dedicated flash device where its boot loader lives. it can also optionally store+boot a kernel.
