It seems to be working fine here and the log doesn't indicate any problems, but
Gentoo's init script doesn't exit:

# /etc/init.d/imapproxy start
 * Starting up-imapproxy ...

I tried switching to 'foreground_mode yes' in /etc/imapproxy.conf with
no luck.  I've tried 1.2.6 and 1.2.7.

Make sure to set your server_hostname to a valid host in /etc/imapproxy.conf.  Check your logs for further errors (ssl perhaps?) if it still does not work.  Re-open if necessary.
