Ideally collection and display should be split with a USE flag.

This way, users can avoid having to install an entire X11 system with opentype, gtk, etc if they just want some statistics!

(FWIW, it seems Ubuntu uses a split approach: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BootCharting ...)
