rdate waits $RDATE_TIMEOUT for a response from the server, it does not wait $RDATE_TIMEOUT for a connection to the server. In that case, /etc/conf.d/rdate needs to be changed to reflect this fact. Currently, it contains: # How long to wait (in seconds) before giving up. # Useful for when you boot and DNS/internet isn't # really available but you have your net interface # come up with say a static IP. RDATE_TIMEOUT=10 The hashed comment fits my use case. |
