root-tail does not work with several desktop environments like kde, gnome and xfce. I found a  modified package, which is enabled to work with xfce (tested, it works for my xfce4).

Could someone incorporate these modifications into gentoo?

this needs to goto whomever handles root-tail, there are tons of names in the changelog and no herd/maintainer

give root-tail-1.1 a try please.  it claims to work with gnome, kde, etc.

I have tried it with root-tail 1.1 and it still does not work.

delia root # qpkg -I -v root-tail
x11-terms/root-tail-1.1 *
