my bug was marked a duplicate of this bug, but I have tex in /usr/bin/tex: # which tex /usr/bin/tex # tex --version TeX 3.1415926 (TeX Live 2012) kpathsea version 6.1.0 Copyright 2012 D.E. Knuth. After disabling creation of the PDF I was able to emerge asdf-2.26. The failure in 448446 is unclear to me, but I agree that it does not appear to be related.

Looks like virtual/texi2dvi is needed as a dependency.
