This bug was likely caused by a bad change in eclass: http://sources.gentoo.org/cgi-bin/viewvc.cgi/gentoo-x86/eclass/autotools-utils.eclass?r1=1.57&r2=1.58 It should have been fixed by the next commit to this eclass: http://sources.gentoo.org/cgi-bin/viewvc.cgi/gentoo-x86/eclass/autotools-utils.eclass?r1=1.58&r2=1.59 So, please emerge --sync and verify whether the bug still exists.
