Xorg.0.log

After the last updates to xorg-server (to 1.13.0-r1) and xorg-drivers (1.13) startx crashes with Caught signal 11 (Segmentation fault).
I have an ati card and I'm using the fglrx proprietary driver. There was an update to it as well, but I updated it first and rebooted with no problem. Crash started occurring after the update to xorg-server and xorg-drivers. I reverted back to xorg-server-1.12.2 and xorg-drivers-1.12 and ran X without a problem. I attach the Xorg.0.log file. The relevant bit is:

emerge --info

Differs in that the computer will not shutdown from 'slim' login. It hangs up on
unmounting /home (which is on a separate partition). I have checked the required USE flags for udev, and keymap is included as notes listed after emerge of xorg-server.

A second computer I have which uses the nvidia open source drivers and gnome 2 does not give the same problem

**********************************************
Apologies! I believe now that my problem is due to other causes, sinc the same problem occurs with earlier versions of the xorg-server installed.

Comment 7 Michal Kurgan 2012-12-05 08:37:30 UTC
I do have the same problem.

For some reason i did disable 'XVideo' extension in /etc/X11/xorg.conf some time ago. I think it was causing Xorg to crash for me, hovewer removing "Disable" line from "Extensions" section did cause the segmentation fault to NOT occur.
Comment 8 matthias.grobarek 2012-12-31 15:41:10 UTC
I had the same problem with xorg-server 1.13.x and ati-drivers-12.11… The solution from Comment 7 works for me as well. I think this should be checked against in the ati-drivers ebuild or at least mentioned in the package’s warning messages.
Comment 9 Manuel Rüger (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2015-07-10 17:14:29 UTC
Closing this bug, as 12.11_beta is not available in tree anymore. Please reopen, if you can reproduce with a recent version.
