Can you try to rebuild and see if - the error is still there - it is still on the same file Please disable ccache. Please then try again *without ccache* and with minimal C*FLAGS, i.e. "-march=core2 -O2 -pipe" If the build finishes OK, please re-add the compiler flags one by one and check which one makes things break. In either case please tell us the results. I tried with FEATURES="-ccache" and CFLAGS="-march=core2 -O2 -pipe". Same error, same place. It looks like the optimization is the problem. CFLAGS -O0, -O1 and -Os work. -O2 throws the error. Strange enough -O3 works again. http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-amd64.xml?part=1&chap=5: A second one is the -O flag (that is a capital O, not a zero), which specifies the gcc optimization class flag. Possible classes are s (for size-optimized), 0 (zero - for no optimizations), 1, 2 or even 3 for more speed-optimization flags (every class has the same flags as the one before, plus some extras). -O2 is the recommended default. *-O3 is known to cause problems when used system-wide, so we recommend that you stick to -O2.* (In reply to comment #6) Well, the problem occurs with -O2 not -O3. Same problem here: With -O2 opencv does not compile, with -O3 it does.
Adding "-fno-tree-pre" to CFLAGS allowed me to compile opencv with -O2 flags.
