Hm, maybe chromium team will be interested in this package... Where are the patches? Or do they only provide binaries? Mike, i see some 7z archives that may be full source code of srware-iron, splitted in 3 parts and uploaded to rapidshare(yuck!). Perhaps it would be better to use binary versions... :-( Please note that if you don't trust Chromium for some reason, why would you trust a _random_ guy on the Internet with the binaries? With Chromium you at least have the source code in an easy to download form. By the way, please read http://neugierig.org/software/chromium/notes/2009/12/iron.html and https://code.google.com/p/chromium/wiki/ChromiumBrowserVsGoogleChrome - that might change your opinion about the browser. If you have suggestions about what we can change in Chromium to improve the privacy etc. feel free to contact me. As an upstream developer and Gentoo package co-maintainer, it should be possible to make those changes if there is a reasonable need. I am personally not interested in maintaining this in the tree. It just feels a bit too "unofficial". I would want to review their source changes before doing anything with it. Looking here: http://www.srware.net/software_srware_iron_chrome_vs_iron.php Many of its claimed advantages are not valid when you compare it to Chromium built from source, and several others can be controlled via chrome://settings or extensions in the standard version. Ok, if chromium team does not interested in maintaining this, i will set low priority on this bug. Mario, if you still want this package in Gentoo, you can contact to Sunrise team, they can help you to write ebuild, details are here - http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/sunrise/ thx for the info but i have enough gentoo packeges to maintain for corporate / private use i just did not want to look into chromium build system. so the request but chromium team is not motivated. upstream removed the sources |
