rackview-0.05.ebuild (edited ebuild)
This edited ebuild seems to emerge now without a violation but someone who
knows the software is going to have to test and make sure it works properly.
tried the attatched ebuild in my portage overlay, it seems to generate some complaints. One of the ebuild messages said to go to http://bagEnd/rackview to test... that generates a 404 error. I don't really know anything about this software I was just blindly testing the ebuild. I may be missing something. I wanted to see what the error messages were: so I did: emerge rackview > /dev/null so we could see what is on stderr the output is as follows: Can't open perl script "/var/tmp/portage/rackview-0.05/work/rackview-0.05/Build.PL": No such file or directory grep: /etc/apache/conf/apache.conf: No such file or directory grep: /etc/apache/conf/commonapache.conf: No such file or directory grep: /etc/apache/conf/commonapache.conf: No such file or directory Can't open perl script "/var/tmp/portage/rackview-0.05/work/rackview-0.05/Build": No such file or directory mv: cannot stat `/var/tmp/portage/rackview-0.05/image/usr/etc/eidetic/*': No such file or directory sed: can't read rackview.conf: No such file or directory mv: cannot stat `/var/tmp/portage/rackview-0.05/image/usr/var/www/html/*': No such file or directory /usr/local/portage/app-admin/rackview/rackview-0.05.ebuild: line 75: cd: /var/tmp/portage/rackview-0.05/image/usr/bin: No such file or directory sed: can't read erackview: No such file or directory >>> Regenerating /etc/ld.so.cache... my emerge info is: Portage 2.0.51-r8 (default-linux/x86/2004.3, gcc-3.4.3, glibc-2.3.4.20041102-r0, ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.9-gentoo-r9 i686 Pentium III (Coppermine) Gentoo Base System version 1.6.8 Python: dev-lang/python-2.3.4 [2.3.4 (#1, Jan 7 2005, 16:09:24)] dev-lang/python: 2.3.4 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.59-r6, 2.13 sys-devel/automake: 1.8.5-r2, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9, 1.9.3, 1.4_p6 sys-devel/binutils: 2.15.92.0.2-r2 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.10-r2 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.8.1-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86 ~x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-O3 -mtune=i686 -fomit-frame-pointer -funroll-loops -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X1 g/ /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/ /usr/shar /qmail/alias /var/qmail/control /var/vpopmail/domains /var/vpopmail/etc" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O3 -mtune=i686 -fomit-frame-pointer -funroll-loops -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs autoconfig ccache distlocks sandbox sfperms" GENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp://ftp.ussg.iu.edu/pub/linux/gentoo ftp://gentoo.ccccom.com h LDFLAGS="" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 X aalib acl acpi aim alsa apm avi berkdb bitmap-fonts bonobo cdr crypt rebird flac foomaticdb fortran gd gdbm gif gpm gtk gtk2 gtkhtml guile imagemagic ww lirc mad maildir mikmod motif mpeg mysql ncurses nls nocd nptl oggvorbis open dl slang spell ssl svga tcltk tcpd tetex tiff truetype videos xinerama xml xml2 let me know if I can provide further assistance. thanks Solution: ebuild /usr/portage/app-admin/rackview/rackview-0.05.ebuild unpack cd /var/tmp/portage/rackview-0.05/work/rackview-0.05/ patch -p0 < /path/rackview-0.05-Makefile.PL.patch ebuild /usr/portage/app-admin/rackview/rackview-0.05.ebuild compile ebuild /usr/portage/app-admin/rackview/rackview-0.05.ebuild install ebuild /usr/portage/app-admin/rackview/rackview-0.05.ebuild qmerge Created attachment 51663 [details, diff]

Patch for Sandbox Error while Installing rackview-0.05
rackview-0.05-Makefile.PL.patch
I installed using the patch steps but got an error, about having to rerun the make makefile - sorry, I can't retry - but running the install script a second time fixed the problem. Also, I added a note to bug 85752 indicating that it is a duplicate of this bug. *** Bug 85752 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Re-assign, this ebuild needs a maintainer. Current version is 0.06 (two years old release though). Try w/ 0.09 and report back, please... *** Bug 140835 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 142344 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Here's my result for 0.09:
