I thought that the keymap selection was done automatically on boot now (at least it does on an experimental 2004.0 prelease LiveCD).

Anyway, I wouldn't write the second "To load a keymap, use <c>loadkeys</c>." as you already mentioned that in the paragraph right above. Perhaps write something like "Now load the keymap of your choice:"?

Comment 3 Tobias Scherbaum (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-03-04 02:50:50 UTC
Neither the keymap is selected automatically nor you can select one (like on the 1.4 LiveCD).

I just copied the loadkeys part from ppc ...

So something like this?
Comment 5 Sven Vermeulen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-03-04 04:29:31 UTC
If it's indeed using "loadkeys", then yes, this patch is correct. I'm still a bit hesitant though...

Sigh, I need (1) bandwidth to download LiveCDs and (2) a VMWare license :p
Comment 6 Tobias Scherbaum (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-03-04 06:21:18 UTC
CC'ing release@g.o

Indeed, a VMWare License would be a cool thing ;)
Comment 7 Gentoo LiveCD Package Maintainers gentoo-dev 2004-03-04 08:01:01 UTC
This looks good to me, however we should have fixed this bug :-/.

We'll see if we can fix it or apply a workaround in an init-script that asks the user something like "enter your keycode : de, be, fr...whatever". Thanks for the heads up, guys. Sorry that you have to clean up the mess we left...
Comment 8 Pieter Van den Abeele (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-03-04 08:21:57 UTC
Watch out for multi-arch keymap issues, if you're adding things to initscripts :-)
Comment 9 Tobias Scherbaum (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-03-05 00:28:21 UTC
Shall i commit this patch and a) mark this as RESO/FIXED or b) reassign this bug to livecd@g.o?
Comment 10 Sven Vermeulen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-03-05 00:41:43 UTC
Commit and reassign. Otherwise livecd@ has nothing to do :p

/me ducks

its fixed in the stable version of genkernel, so it will be fixed on the next livecds.
