Bug 433998

Summary: incompatibility between =dev-lang/ghc-7.4.1-r1 and =x11-wm/xmonad-0.10

Description Lancelot SIX 2012-09-05 06:08:32 UTC
I recently recompiled my xmonad configuration file (~/.xmonad/xmonad.hs) with =dev-lang/ghc-7.4.1-r1 installed.
Then it went impossible to restart xmonad, it gave me the following error :

$HOME/.xmonad/xmonad-x86_64-linux: error while loading shared libraries: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

In my lib directory (/usr/lib64), I only have and installed, so it makes sense that trying to load fails.

It seems that the dependency on libffi is added in =dev-lang/ghc-7.4.1-r1. I tried to recompile it and then xmonad and xmonad-contrib, but the produced binary file still produces a dependency to

I went back to =dev-lang/ghc-7.4.1 . Newly recompiled xmonad files now works, so it really looks like that the problem if on the ghc side.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. rm ~/.xmonad/xmonad.{hi,o}; rm ~/.xmonad/xmonad-x86_64-linux # just to be sure
2. xmonad --recompile
3. xmonad
Actual Results:
$HOME/.xmonad/xmonad-x86_64-linux: error while loading shared libraries: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Expected Results:
restart xmonad properly....

What USE flags did you use to build ghc-7.4.1-r1?

I think you would need to run haskell-updater
and revdep-rebuild q few times to restore sane
libffi depends.
