Description Vladimir 2012-09-04 07:08:57 UTC
Hello!
A strange thing happened to Marble a couple of releases ago (or a several month ago) on my system. I have been unable to move the globe (rotate) using mouse pointer since that time. The only way to rotate it was to click the navigation buttons on the screen navigator.
Moreover, it "sticks" to some locations on the globe from time to time even if I use the screen navigator. It means that I click a couple of times, the globe rotates, and then it just returns to its initial position.
I've been waiting for this to be fixed in the following releases, but it is still almost unusable, so I decided to post a bug-report here.

Probably, I should note that I do not use kdelibs, so I installed Marble with "-kde" USE flag, so it is Qt-only.
By the way, when I type "equery uses marble", I obtain two "kde" USE-flags. Like this:

$ equery uses marble
[ Legend : U - final flag setting for installation]
[ : I - package is installed with flag ]
[ Colors : set, unset ]
 * Found these USE flags for kde-base/marble-4.9.0:
 U I
 - - debug : Enable extra debug codepaths, like asserts and extra
output. If you want to get meaningful backtraces see
                       http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/qa/backtraces.xml
 - - designer-plugin : Enable designer plugin
 - - gps : Adds support for Global Positioning System
 - - handbook : Enable handbooks generation for KDE4.
 - - kde : Adds support for KDE (K Desktop Environment)
 - - kde : Adds support for KDE (K Desktop Environment)
 - - plasma : Build optional KDE plasma addons
 - - python : Adds optional support/bindings for the Python language
 - - test : Workaround to pull in packages needed to run with
FEATURES=test. Portage-2.1.2 handles this internally, so
don't set it in make.conf/package.use anymore

It is probably completely unrelated, but it also looks strange.

  Regards,
    Vladimir

Reproducible: Always

How about 4.9.1?

The same problem. I cannto move a globe with a mouse pointer, nor can I zoom in/out using the mouse scroll wheel.

I didn't file a new bugreport, instead I've found a solution on the upstream butracker.

No progress in the last half year. We cant much do about it. Makes no sense to track this forever.
