Looks like the mga driver does not fully handle XAA removal from xorg-server-1.13 yet. Fixed in 1.6.2 I tested 1.6.2 earlier this weekend with a good and a bad news ;) First, the bad news, on the first test the MGA was locked, with nothing in Xorg.0.log and blocks X init phase. When I reboot from an ssh connection, the bios won't display and the card won't boot. The screen was screaming about a bad resolution (it's a 17" multisync CRT pretty loose with timings and resolution), after a cold reboot, the computer starts again. The good news is that the compilation error is indeed fixed :) With some more background, this computer has two graphic cards, the MGA, which is configure to be the first to boot in the BIOS and that displays it, and an nvidia 9800 which is only starts when X is on, after the MGA. Like I said, the first try was not good at all, but the second "only" locks the card and X, but I did not had trouble with the BIOS. Unfortunately, I had no time this week to do better tests so I stuck with 1.6.1 and xorg 1.2.99 (1.6.1's ebuild prevents xorg 1.3 installation now). I'll try to do further tests with 1.6.2 on Sunday. Anyways, thanks for fixing the compilation error. Should I open a new bug for the issue that prevents X starting with 1.6.2 or continue on this one ? Please open a new bug. Also if possible, report upstream to https://bugs.freedesktop.org/ if no report already exists there. As there was no further followup and no other reports of breakage, I'm going to relax the xorg-server dependency on xf86-video-mga now. |
