failing configure log:
checking for an ANSI C-conforming const... yes
checking for inline... inline
checking for pow in -lm... yes
checking for pthread_mutex_lock in -lpthread... yes
configure: error: conditional "LINK_DOC" was never defined.
Usually this means the macro was only invoked conditionally.

Same problem reported here

but for 3.2.11 which worked fine here (probably only because ebuild was missing 
$(use_enable doc)).
