current git fails too.  i'm guessing it's related to binutils 2.22.  moved to upstream bug tracker.

Carlos announced in #gentoo-hppa that the necessary patches are in for both glibc and binutils.

latest glibc git does seem to build (with a patch or two).  since glibc-2.17 is due out in the next month-ish, i'm inclined to just wait for that rather than try and make older versions work.
