revdep-rebuild should fix the issue.

Thats correct. Please run 'revdep-rebuild' or in case of portage-2.2 'emerge @preserved-rebuild'

Yes, confirmed that revdep-rebuild was all that was required. I do usually revdep-rebuild after each world update. Not sure how I failed to do so this time...
