Description Popol 2004-02-25 03:29:19 UTC
I've opengl-update xfree
I've emerged xfree (no version specified) I think it is 4.3.0 rc 4 or 5 (same problem with these version)
I've emerged ati-drivers (no version specified) I think it is 3.28
When I do XFree86 -probe &>Error.log && cat Error.log, I've got a lot of unresolved symbols, starting with apm_drv.o module up to fglrx_drv.o module.

If I remove fglrx.o from the X modules directory I don't have any unresolved symbols then.

X hangs the computer when starting then, except if I comment the Load "dri" line in its config file.

This problem is quite recurrent currently (try searching ati-driver in the gentoo forum). It seems to be linked with DRI in a way, and the new XFree version.

I'm running linux 2.6.1-gentoo-r1, lsmod shows up agpgart, sis-agp, and fglrx
I've tried to patch the sis-agp file, but with no luck. Everything is loaded in the correct order (arpgart then sis-agp then fglrx)

X runs without any acceleration. (I have a radeon 9600 pro, but this issue exists with other radeon boards)

Please attach /var/log/XFree86.0.log from an attempt to `startx` using the XFree86 drivers. You may want to back it up somewhere else after that attempt, so when you start with fglrx it doesn't get overwritten.

Also, `emerge gentoolkit` and `qpkg -I -v x11-base/xfree`.
