10 MBit Slackware box @ Fdcservers in chicago. contributed by Eliteitminds.com, Iglooshells.com and BetasIRC Network Staff. If the crontab needs an adjustment or anything looks out of date I am the Senior admin and any needed adjustments could be made. I have been attempting to rsync update for the last 1~2 weeks and the server is stable with excellent uptime and gets 1.6MB/s from the tds rsync mirror.

Reproducible: Always

Additional server details are as follows.

3ghz Pentium4
512MB ram
2x 80gb disk
80gb dedicated disk for the mirror accessable via httpd
IP: 66.90.81.114
Admin's
mikecrfd@telus.net
dave@iglooshells.com

Mirror is rsync updated via cron

0, 30, * * * * root rsync -u -r --delete-after lug.mit.edu::distfiles /distfiles

I was originally using the tds.net rsyncd but it appears the connection was blocked... i'm unaware of any reasoning for this. Thanks Mike Crawford

SYNC="rsync://rsync.eliteitminds.com/gentoo-portage/"

crontab is set to 0,30 * * * * root sh /opt/gentoo-rsync/rsync-gentoo-portage.sh

EliteitMinds Technologies is proud to be a gentoo contributor. Thanks for everything. couldn't hae done it without gentoo linux
Comment 6 Jeffrey Forman (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-14 18:49:38 UTC
Thanks for helping out Gentoo. I have added your mirror to our list at http://www.gentoo.org/main/en/mirrors.xml. Please start synching from ftp.oregonstate.edu as the email I have sent to you instructs. We would like to add you to the gentoo-mirrors Mailing List, as we send our notifications of updates, releases, and changes in policy to the mirrors. Once again, thanks for the hardware and bandwidth!

For Infrastructure,
Jeffrey

P.S. Please comment on this bug about the rsync mirror. I am getting an unknown host for rsync.eliteitminds.com. Thanks!
Comment 7 Michael Crawford (ali3nx) 2004-04-19 03:46:46 UTC
here's a dig from another box on the rsync mirror lan... i made some adjustments to my master zone hope this helps. i'll forward the zone to my .de zone slave right away so there's no conflicts or stale entries. I affected the crontab changes on the file mirror box at about 1:30 am pst, april 19th and it's currently updating... the routing to oregon isn't as glorious as MTU or tds but the box has been up for a month so i don't estimate there being any interruptions for the forseeable future... If there's anything else i can do for gentoo i'm sure BetasIRC and EliteitMinds Technologies would be happy to consider requests.

Just *finally* =/ got 2 decent servers in a dc that are running my mirrors. Requesting axx to rsync1 for my rsyncd and if infra could change the official listing to EliteitMinds Technologies thad be sooper. distfiles is on 100MBit gbp4 chicago. same dc as the last mirror. rsync.* same dc. My 1.4 TB gentoo server in california was unavailable for ftp or http traffic however i may move rsync back to cali after some repairs from a bunk secondary hard drive failure.
serveradmin's contact email has changed also to ali3nx@shaw.ca for the mailing list.

Dns changes affected to reflect new hosts @ 4:40 am pst -08:00
Comment 10 Michael Crawford (ali3nx) 2004-07-01 02:42:44 UTC
had to move the file mirror... just got a new ip on the original intended 1TB 100MBit host at ucsd.edu. I'll update dns asap
