tgz containing quake3-urbanterror ebuild, digest and manifest

This is an ebuild for Urbanterror 3.3, based on the 3.2 ebuild. Only change is
the addition of the 3.3 upgrade zip and its' digest.
Comment 2 Markus Rothe (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-02-28 23:55:04 UTC
the ebuild is tested by me, too.

Now it has to get into portage :-)
Comment 3 Markus Rothe (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-03-14 23:12:59 UTC
why does this take so long??
Comment 4 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-03-16 04:10:17 UTC
Well, we prefer actual files we can read rather than tarballs. Plus, the ebuild generally waits for the maintainer to get around to it. Since vapier does all of the quake3 ebuilds, they usually wait around until he does them. The only time I would touch one of the quake3 mods would be if there was a security fix, or if vapier requested it. There's only 4 members of the games herd, so sometimes it takes us a little while to get things resolved.

I'm sure he'll get to it real soon now.

If not, I'll jump on it sometime in the next couple days.
Comment 5 Markus Rothe (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-03-16 06:23:34 UTC

SpanKY, want me to do this?
Comment 8 Markus Rothe (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-03 22:59:01 UTC
will this be done when I'm still alive? ;-)
Comment 9 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-03 23:16:12 UTC
...doubtful. *grin*

I really haven't had time to mess with it, especially since I don't have my copy of Quake3 anywhere where I can find it. I haven't gotten any sort of response from the SpanKster, so I don't know what is up with this.

Currently all of my "Gentoo time" is being filled working with our Releng group so we can have a bootable UT2004 Demo GameCD in the immediate future.

Hopefully Mike will take notice of this bug and get it added. If I ever get an actual chance when I'm at my dev box, I'll try to find my Quake3 copy and resolve this, but I wouldn't hold my breath on it.
Comment 10 Markus Rothe (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-03 23:29:46 UTC
so not all devs have suddenly become dead... ;-)
Comment 11 Markus Rothe (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-03 23:31:02 UTC
by the way... urbanterror 3.4 has been released *g*
Comment 12 Markus Rothe (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-03 23:33:37 UTC
with this post I try to change the Summary (never did this before, so I don't know if it is even possible to do so.)

ebuild for 3.4

sry... I wrote "urbanTerror34.zip" instead of "urbanterror34.zip".
also corrected the header.
Comment 20 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-09 11:59:44 UTC
I've added 3.4 to CVS. I saw no point in adding 3.3 also, so I skipped it.

Comment 22 Markus Rothe (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-13 07:35:17 UTC
if there is no reason for you to add 3.3 then you can also delete this versions, can't you?

quake3-urbanterror-2.6_beta1.ebuild
quake3-urbanterror-3.1-r1.ebuild
quake3-urbanterror-3.2.ebuild

(just to keep portage "clean")

Markus
Comment 23 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-13 08:21:54 UTC
I could definitely delete the older versions. I just didn't at the time since it was quicker to just add the new one. I'll remove the older ones later today.
Comment 24 Markus Rothe (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-13 09:06:42 UTC
you didn't use my submitted ebuild, did you? ;-) While I was installing this mod on another computer I recognized that there is misspelled archive name. Should be "urbanterror34.zip" instead of "UrbanTerror34.zip". But just in the ebuild. I corrected it manualy and it works like a charm.

Markus
Comment 25 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-13 09:35:11 UTC
Look at the ChangeLog... I'm not the only one that's touched it.

Honestly, in a case like this it is WAY less confusing to simply tell us what to change, since it is much easier for me to edit a couple lines than to download an ebuild to my overlay and work with it there.

So what *exactly* is incorrect in the latest ebuild (1.4)?
Comment 26 Markus Rothe (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-13 10:16:03 UTC
ok... I'll mention for next time :-)

please change in line 15 from "UrbanTerror34.zip" to "urbanterror34.zip" and in line 32 the same.

Markus
Comment 27 Mr. Bones. (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-13 10:59:24 UTC
Markus - what in the world are you talking about. The patch is called
UrbanTerror34.zip not urbanterror34.zip. Why do you think the 34 patch is
capitalized differently?
Comment 28 Markus Rothe (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-13 11:08:21 UTC
I downloaded it a few days ago and is named urbanterror34.zip... (??)

But I'll do it again.

(btw: if it is named UrbanTerror34.zip you should change it in files/digest-quake3-urbanterror-3.4...)

I'm realy confuesed!?!

Markus
Comment 29 Markus Rothe (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-13 11:13:30 UTC
you are right... :-) ...kind of dizzy today...

But you have to change the digest file:
change "urbanterror34.zip" to "UrbanTerror34.zip"

Markus
Comment 30 Markus Rothe (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-13 11:16:12 UTC
NO I'M NOT STUPID (yes I'm shouting ;-)

I downloaded form fileplanet.com and the file is named "urbanterror34.zip"!!

If you are registered you can look it up here:

Comment 31 Mr. Bones. (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-13 11:18:26 UTC
Is that file linked off of http://www.urbanterror.net/?
Comment 32 Markus Rothe (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-13 11:37:27 UTC
yes... right at the front page. But as I can see at the moment fileplanet.com is the only download page with this stupid filename.

Markus
Comment 33 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2004-04-13 11:57:38 UTC
right, we've seen this crap before ...

some mirrors call the files <all lower case> while most mirrors are <random capitalization>

not much we can do about it :(

we could try complaining, but i doubt the fools that run some of these mirrors even know the word 'Linux' past what ABC/NBC/MSN/CNN has fed them :p
Comment 34 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-13 14:58:41 UTC
I had this same problem with ut2003-bonuspack-de. There are TONS of different names for the downloads, so I simply picked the name that was the most prevalent and went with that, leaving out any other mirrors.

Anyway, I have removed the older versions from CVS and fixed the digest to reflect the UrbanTerror file name.
