When I run: nm -D /usr/lib64/libX11.so | grep XGetRequest I get: 0000000000047600 T _XGetRequest The above result is on the server where I get error conneting to. When I run the same command on the server that freenx is working OK nm -D /usr/lib64/libX11.so | grep XGetRequest There is no output: the "libX11.so" does not contain: 0000000000047600 T _XGetRequest settings, as these have remained unchanged. The same error affects both nxserver-freenx and x2go, which both rely on the nx package for nxagent. Re-emerging didn't accomplish anything. I even let the system re-emerge world overnight just to be sure. (In reply to comment #3) ... > > Re-emerging didn't accomplish anything. I even let the system re-emerge > world overnight just to be sure. I don't think re-emerging the system will solve your problem. I've unmerged net-misc/nxserver-freenx and emerged net-misc/nxserver-freeedition Here are some hints, where to find the ssh-key for the client etc.: http://www.nomachine.com/documentation/admin-guide.php freeedition worked for me. (In reply to comment #4) > Here are some hints, where to find the ssh-key for the client etc.: I had no issue at all with the initial setup. The application was working flawlessly until I updated Xorg and it appears to be a new library problem. I expect nxserver-freeedition works simply because it's a binary package. I did a little experimenting and discovered a strange interaction between libX11 and libXtst that appears to trigger it. What I found is that libX11 cannot be on version 1.5.0 when you build libXtst or it'll cause the error when executing nxagent, even if you rebuild the nx package. You can build either version of libXtst in the repo while libX11 1.4.4 is installed and it won't exhibit the issue. You can even update libX11 afterward and nxagent will continue to work so long as you do not recompile libXtst. libXtst 1.2.1 built with libX11 1.5.0: ----- # nm -D /usr/lib64/libXtst.so.6 | grep XGetRequest U _XGetRequest # nm -D /usr/lib64/libX11.so.6 | grep XGetRequest 000000000004e840 T _XGetRequest # nxagent --unrecognizedoption ./nxagent: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib64/libXtst.so.6: undefined symbol: _XGetRequest ----- libXtst 1.2.1 built with libX11 1.4.4: ----- # nm -D /usr/lib64/libXtst.so.6 | grep XGetRequest # nm -D /usr/lib64/libX11.so.6 | grep XGetRequest # nxagent --unrecognizedoption Unrecognized option: --unrecognizedoption use: X [:<display>] [option] (list of usage options snipped) ----- Updating libX11 to 1.5.0 while leaving libXtst alone (just for curiosity's sake): ----- # nm -D /usr/lib64/libXtst.so.6 | grep XGetRequest # nm -D /usr/lib64/libX11.so.6 | grep XGetRequest 000000000004e840 T _XGetRequest # nxagent --unrecognizedoption Unrecognized option: --unrecognizedoption use: X [:<display>] [option] (list of usage options snipped) ----- So long as libXtst contains no reference to _XGetRequest, nxagent behaves itself. For the time being I've downgraded to libX11 1.4.4 and recompiled everything X-related (All of Xorg's components look for _XGetRequest if they were built with libX11 1.5), but it seems to me that it's the nx package that needs to be fixed to cope with the new library version. Have you run revdep-rebuild since upgrading? Did you at least rebuild x11-libs/libXtst? (In reply to comment #6) > Have you run revdep-rebuild since upgrading? Did you at least rebuild > x11-libs/libXtst? Yes, I run revdep-rebuild several times during upgrade. NO, there was no speicific instruction to rebuild x11-libs/libXtst. I wouldn't even know that that lib causing the problem unless xenon.kay had mentioned it. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 423855 *** |
