I'm looking at blockers to the removal of Java 6 and this is one of them. 2.1.2 was released in 2013 but it doesn't fix this issue. There was a commit to the 2_1_X branch a few months ago that does though. Both the 2.2 series and the unreleased 3.0 series are actually very much older. Ergo this project is basically on life support and probably should be punted given that it has no rdeps. It's difficult to establish whether anything recent that we haven't packaged still uses this but it seems unlikely. Thoughts? Incidentally, I too looked at this project a week ago (can't remember the exact reason). https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/COCOON tells us there isn't much activity going on even as far as support goes: "Issues: 0 created and 0 resolved in the last 30 days". And let's face it: if you're looking at a web framework in Java, Cocoon should be way down on your list. Can we punt it, please? # James Le Cuirot <chewi@gentoo.org> (30 Jul 2015) # Holding back the removal of Java 6 and upstream is on life # support. Removal in 30 days. See bug #423761. dev-java/cocoon 30 days timeout. Looking at https://bugs.gentoo.org/buglist.cgi?quicksearch=cocoon it seems that removal will close 9 bugs more. Nice :) It's gone. |
