most likely a cflags issue - just try lower ones and re-emerge. Thanks, but could you elaborate a little for me? What did you mean by the lower ones? What file should I edit? I'm no stranger to C and makefiles but I'm not sure what you mean here... In the file /etc/make.conf you have a global setting for the CFLAGS that are used for compiling, you have CFLAGS="-O3 -march=pentium3 -funroll-loops -fprefetch-loop-arrays -pipe" some of these might not work correctly, the default is something like CFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium3 -pipe" you should try with these to see if then the error goes away. I have just resolved this issue (finally). The message "The bug is not reproduceable, so it is likely a hardware or OS problem" appears to be right on the money. My 256MB SDRAM had a 1-bit fault (bit forced on) at offset 31.5MB. I replaced the faulty memory and recompiled kdelibs (and the rest of KDE-3.2) without a hitch. My appologies guys... |
