Works for me:

*** Assuming you already have 'dev-perl/XML-Parser' installed:

# perl -MCPAN -e 'install XML::Parser'

# perl -MCPAN -e shell
cpan> install perl-XML-Parser
Comment 2 David Philippi 2012-06-19 21:51:30 UTC
Just noticed, I had the package installed and recompiling fixed the problem. But it still seems like there's something gone wrong with the perl packages then.

Did you remember to rebuild perl packages after upgrade to 5.16.0? perl-cleaner is your friend.
Comment 4 David Philippi 2012-06-20 14:02:22 UTC
That might just as well have been the problem. Ran perl-cleaner --all just to be sure. A bit misleading error message but that's life with gentoo. At least the fix is usually easy.
