It's wonderful to have mirror selection functionality for Gentoo's mirrors, where I can get 400KB+ down, but it would be even better if Portage respected selections for mirrors for other download locations, such as SourceForge and Kernel.org.

ebuilds that rely on downloading from SourceForge seem to go to flow.dl.sourceforge.net first, which always seems to time out.  I'd much prefer it go to aleron.dl.sourceforge.net since that's local to me.

Kernel source downloads from a kernel.org mirror have gone as far as France (I'm in the US) and the download only went at about 20KBps.  If I could select a closer one that would be fantastic.
