you have to use findlib 1.3.2 for ocaml 4.00 moreover, given the state of the ocaml packages wrt ocaml 4.00, you should rather not use 4.00 Hi Alexis, sometime I was requested to unmask >=dev-lang/ocaml-3.12.1_rc1. I suppose therefore now ocaml-4.00.0_beta2 is installed as default at least on ~amd64 systems: root@impala:/usr/src(135)# eix dev-lang/ocaml [I] dev-lang/ocaml Available versions: 3.11.2 3.12.1 {M}(~)4.00.0_beta2 {{X emacs gdbm latex ncurses +ocamlopt tk xemacs}} Installed versions: 4.00.0_beta2(08:19:58 06/11/12)(X emacs latex ncurses ocamlopt tk xemacs) Homepage: http://www.ocaml.org/ Description: Fast modern type-inferring functional programming language descended from the ML family If I comment the ">=dev-lang/ocaml-3.12.1_rc1" line in /etc/portage/package.unmask, 'emerge -uvDN world' tries to downgrade ocaml to ocaml-3.12.1. Then I would have to reinstall all ocaml dependent packages. The only problems I have seen so far with ocaml-4.00.0_beta2, were the failling reinstallation findlib-1.3.1 and geneweb-5.02, which are broken and that unison does not understand the old archive format. I get messages like: Warning: inconsistent state. The archive file is missing on some hosts. For safety, the remaining copies should be deleted. Archive ar205571af182abaeea21e63837d070763 on host lynx should be DELETED Archive ar9be7480edb7c3d06edbb8824bb1bd546 on host lynx is MISSING Please delete archive files as appropriate and try again So you really recommend to downgrade ocaml to 3.12.1? Regards Juergen If I delete the old archive, I am loosing once the synchronization history for each unison profile, but then unison seems to work normally. yes, i recommend you downgrade to ocaml 3.12.1 if you are not willing to post bugs with patches for ocaml 4.00.0 compatibility and want to continue reopening bugs that are fixed if you use the correct version of the package comment #1: you have to use findlib 1.3.2 for ocaml 4.00 OK, I downgraded to ocaml-3.12.1. why do you keep reopening the bug ? |
