Description skolima 2012-05-29 15:38:46 UTC
After I upgraded to the latest stable erlang, attempt to start ejabberd fails with the following message in log:

May 29 17:31:14 snotling epmd: epmd: ALIVE2_REQ from non local address

Per https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=417237 , I tried updating to ejabberd-2.1.10, but it turns out those bugs aren't related (it still fails the same way). Going bug to erlang-13.2.4 is not an option either, as it does not compile with the current zlib.

I did find reports of the local address check being changed in erlang 14, but no actual clue as to how to resolve this issue.

Reproducible: Always

I believe this is NOT a duplicate, as updating to ejabberd-2.1.10 did not resolve this for me. I had to muck around with merging zlib (with `ebuild zlib* merge` to ignore dependencies) to go back to erlang-13.2.4. Also, from what I see the log message is different in this case.
