Boot sequence works through to setp 4 of the linuxrc script. At this point the script fails to mount the real root file system. Both the / (/dev/hda4) and /boot (/dev/hda2) are formated as reiserfs.

The error message is:
mount: Mounting /dev/hda4 on /newroot failed: Invalid argument

1) Could we please have your kernel configuration?
2) Could we please have your /etc/lilo.conf // grub.conf?
3) What kernel are you using?
4) What genkernel version are you using?
