'emerge info' please.  Also a bigger log would be appreciated.

Oh, and there is no 'crypto' in the tree.  Could you please add what:

  # emerge -p <name of package that fails>

output?

I had a similar error:

# emerge  crypto++
Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 1) dev-libs/crypto++-5.1-r1 to /

...

g++ -O2 -march=pentium3 -fomit-frame-pointer -mmmx -msse -c ecp.cpp
g++: Internal error: Killed (program cc1plus)

try updating your gcc and newer crypto++ versions
