abiword[gnome] currently means that AbiWord uses the goffice library. In the past USE=gnome also added Gucharmap dependency, but this is not the case anymore.

However, there is already a goffice local USE flag (used by media-gfx/nip2). Perhaps abiword's USE=gnome can be also renamed to goffice for consistency and clarity?

I agree, but maybe should be enabled by default, not sure :-/
