I would like to write simple cron script that is run weekly on machines with xfsprogs.

What would you think? Is it bad idea?

i don't think it would be a good default, and having someone symlink the prog into /etc/cron.weekly/ is just about as easy as editing a config file to enable it ...

This is what I've done on my one box with XFS. So I agree with us not needing a cronjob.
