Description Adam Tygart 2012-04-24 21:28:51 UTC
According to the GlusterFS bugzilla, and the fixed init script for Redhat, stopping the glusterd service should not kill the glusterfsd daemons.

The glusterfsd daemons do not continue running when stopping glusterd. The glusterfsd daemons are the services that actually serve the filesystems, and should not be killed when the configuration daemon (glusterd) is stopped.

When the glusterd service is re-started, it checks for active glusterfsd processes and will only start the ones that aren't already active. They have stated multiple times in their IRC channel that stopping or restarting the glusterd service shouldn't affect the glusterfsd services.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start glusterd
2. create and start a glusterfs volume
3. Stop glusterd
Actual Results:
glusterd and glusterfsd daemons are killed

Expected Results:
glusterd should be killed.
glusterfsd should be left alone.

Additionally, as glusterd is just the configuration daemon, if probably shouldn't unmount the glusterfs mounts when stopped (it doesn't look like the init scripts for other OSs do that).
