Once I had installed two versions of php. I used eselect php to switch the other version. After that I unmerged php and eselect-php. /usr/bin/php exists. I think an eselect module should add the files it creates to its CONTENTS in /var/db/pkg/app-admin/eselect-.../CONTENTS.

php/eselect-php should now clean up after itself
