Description Richard Yao (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-03-20 06:46:07 UTC
RedHat removed support for SCSI emulation in qemu-kvm 1.0, but upstream QEMU still provides SCSI emulation support. RedHat is working on virtio-scsi as a replacement for both SCSI emulation support and virtio-block.

In the mean time, we should do something to provide SCSI emulation to bridge the gap.

I had a chat with blackpenguin in #kvm on freenode and it seems that app-emulation/qemu-kvm-1.0-r3 is rendered obsolete by app-emulation/qemu-1.0.1, which has SCSI support.

I am closing this as obsolete.

qemu doesn't replace. This is not how any other distro operates. The LSI SCSI support is bad and broken and shouldn't be used because it will corrupt your data.
