Actually, what is listed on http://gaugusch.at/kernel.shtml may prove more useful to end users, for they will not have a need to recompile the kernel when using a custom DSDT table. The current patch from http://gaugusch.at/kernel.shtml work with gentoo-dev-sources 2.6.3. It would be very helpful if the patched is added in an upcoming gentoo kernel release. I think adding this to an existing gentoo kernel will go unused by too many people for it to be worth while. I think it's something that's best left upstream with the rest of the changes that happen in the ACPI code.
