Description Dale 2004-02-06 07:21:01 UTC
I am a bit new to Linux, more so to Gentoo so bear with me, also first bug report. I have Gkrellm 2.1.24 installed and recently upgraded to 2.6.1-rc1 kernel and noticed something about Gkrellm. After the system is running for a few hours, the temp and fan sensors stop updating. They seem to freeze at a reasonable level, not at extremes. The rest is working fine, drives, CPU and memory. I did some poking around and noticed that the values in the /sys files are not changing. That is the way it seems anyway.

I tried to re-emerge the program to see if that would help, no change. /sys is mounted at boot as normal and no other error that I see. I have also tried to restart X by logging out, clicking menu and selecting restart X. No change. I can reboot and it will work again for a while then stop again.

I sort of think this is a kernel issue. I changed back to my old kernel, 2.6.0-test11, and it works fine. I have ran for a good while now with no problems. I did not even have to re-emerge Gkrellm, it just worked.

If you need more info, let me know. I may have to reboot with the newer kernel and wait till it stops, which takes a few hours.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.boot kernel 2.6.1-rc1
2.start Gkrellm
3.wait a few hours
Actual Results:
The sensors freeze with normal values.

Expected Results:
update the info I guess.

Just let me know if I can provide any additional info. Here goes my uptime. :-(

Thread in Gentoo forum. http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=132399& If it
is one of you guys, let me know. We can "chat" there too. Oh, I'm "dalek" there.

I hope I entered this right. :?
