Build fails and there appears to be an open bug about this upstream: 

https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=60767

Reverting back to stable 1.6.17-r7 works fine.

I bumped the package to 1.0.1 and made it depend on <dev-vcs/subversion-1.7

Let's see if a future release unbreaks things.
