Bug 398695 – net-im/skype-2.2.0.35-r1 crashes repeatedly on startup

When starting skype, skype crashed repeatedly for a dozen times before it's opened and stick there. 

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install skype 
[ebuild   R   ~] net-im/skype-2.2.0.35-r1  USE="-qt-static" 22,539 kB

2. Open Skype

Actual Results:  
Skype crashes on startup repeatedly. After retrying a dozen times or so, Skype finally started and stick there.

Expected Results:  
Skype starts without crashing repeatedly. 

Portage 2.1.10.41 (default/linux/x86/10.0/desktop/kde, gcc-4.4.5, glibc-2.13-r4, 3.0.6-gentoo i686)

Do you have crash logs, system log output, dmesg info related to these crashes?

Did you test with USE=qt-static yet?

before you reopen this bug report (and when enough information has been added).

Building with "qt-static" seems to make the crash on start problem went away.

I see the same in my amd64 system: 

$ skype
./skype: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib32/qt4/libQtNetwork.so.4: undefined symbol: _ZN16QIODevicePrivate13putCharHelperEc

this is when compiled with -qt-static

All app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-* are installed in the 20120520 version.
