ofpath doesn't work when CONFIG_SCSI_PROC_FS, a deprecated option, is not enabled in the kernel.  Here's what I get when trying to use ybin and ofpath with CONFIG_SCSI_PROC_FS=n:

ybin: Unable to find OpenFirmware path for boot=/dev/sda2

ofpath: /dev/sda: Device not configured
ybin: Unable to determine OpenFirmware path for macosx=/dev/sda7
ybin: Try specifying the real OpenFirmware path for macosx=/dev/sda7 in /etc/yaboot.conf

I've confirmed that ofpath and ybin do work when CONFIG_SCSI_PROC_FS=y.  I didn't see any indication that CONFIG_SCSI_PROC_FS=y was required in the gentoo ppc64 handbook.

This patch appears to allow ofpath to work when CONFIG_SCSI_PROC_FS=n, though I haven't had the chance to try it:

Either the ppc64 handbook should be updated, or yaboot-static should be updated with the above patch.  I am happy to test an updated yaboot-static package if you'd like me to.

Jim, which version of yaboot do you use (emerge -pv yaboot)?

My mistake, this bug is actually against sys-boot/yaboot-static.  Since I am using a 64bit userland, I'm on sys-boot/yaboot-static-1.3.14-r1:

This should be fixed in the latest yaboot-static package. Thanks for the report!
