Description Caige Nash 2004-01-29 01:36:26 UTC
The experimental x86 stage3 dated 20040123 doesn't create the necessary device nodes. Could not use grub, had to emerge baselayout to create the device nodes. Now when I re-boot the system the kernel gives the usual bios memory map then the kernel just stops loading and appears to be frozen, but I can still soft reset.
Also, the linux version says "linuxversion 2.6.1 (root@livecd)" which is very strange.

Hardware info:

2.08 Athlon-xp 2800

samsung 120 udma
realtek 8139
radeon 9600 pro

The freezing of the kernel was due to selecting mda text console (dual headed), once that was deselected the kernel boots fine. The experimental stage3 I have tried on 2 systems and they do not create the device nodes.
