I don't have a UML deployment, so you're going to need to run the subtests yourself and look at why they fail. t3600-rm.sh is all of the tests you need to look at. The rest are known upstream breakages that don't block the testsuite. Hhm, it happens both within a running UML as well as when I only chrooted into the image file - but the test doesn't fail at the host system, which is a : $> emerge --info Portage 2.1.10.41 Created attachment 296727 [details] packages (In reply to comment #5) > The test doesn't fail for me, so can I get more details about your image file? Beside the info in comment #0 here's the package list. The image file itself I'm using since about 3-4 years, updated regularly. Few days ago I cloned it - leaving the original at stable status and the new one I added "~x86" to the keywords. Few packages however are not updated to unstable, b/c they failed the test phase. I can't get t3600 to fail here. On your UML setup, can you please run it: ebuild ... compile cd ${S}/t ./t3600-rm.sh --verbose (as non-root) (In reply to comment #7) > I can't get t3600 to fail here. me tee ;-) - in the mean while I updated few other packages - now it works flawlessly. I tend to close this report therefore. Gah - git-1.7.8.4 failed for a normal "emerge -u git", but immediately changing after the failed emerge into /var/tmp/portage/dev-vcs/git-1.7.8.4/work/git-1.7.8.4/t and running "./t3600-rm.sh --verbose" (as root) works fine ?!?*&%$ Err, can you clarify? Run the test with --verbose as both root and non-root, and attach both sets of output please? (Both stderr and stdout) Created attachment 299437 [details]

Ok. I don't get it. This isn't making much sense. Can you do a test run on the -9999 ebuild? (It'll fail due to git-svn, but I'm interested to see what other failures there are). Well, what I can say is, that 1.7.8.4 passes all test at an UML image with an almost stable Gentoo (except gcc, which is already at 4.6.2) - whereas the same version failed it at an unstable UML image. So either a local problem at my side or it has something to do with the other unstable packages. Now version 9999 : An "ebuild ...compile" failed due to missing ascii2doc, I circumvent it by a dummy script as long as bug #399693 isn't answered. After that I changed into /var/tmp/portage/dev-vcs/git-9999/work/git-9999/t and run "$make test 1>/tmp/make.log 2>&1" which output I'll attach onto this ticket. Created attachment 299507 [details]
