Please bump, just copy over the ebuild seems to work fine. And at least on my ~amd64 box the app is much more stable (less crashes). By this link http://dl.google.com/earth/client/current/GoogleEarthLinux.bin I can download only 6.0.3.2197 version not googleearth-6.1.0.5001. I can't find correct link for googleearth-6.1.0.5001. Maybe you have configured some proxy that gives you the old file? I try to download googleearth-6.1.0.5001 from four different places from different internet providers, but I download only 6.0.3.2197 version. Maybe bin-file doesn't update anymore and we have to use deb or rpm package? Not I checked it again. And indeed: .bin is only the old version. So we really might use the deb or rpm Created attachment 298949 [details]

Contributed by warning:
------------------
When you start Google Earth fails, try adding a file ~./config/Google/GoogleEarthPlus.conf
the following options:
lastTip = 4
enableTips = false
In addition, the use of free video drivers may be problems associated with using the graphics
library Mesa3D. In this case, Google Earth 6x only works with the library Gallium3D.
Select the 32bit graphic library can use the command:
eselect mesa list
For example, for Radeon R300 (x86):
eselect mesa set r300 2
For Intel Q33 (amd64):
eselect mesa set 32bit i965 2
You may need to restart xorg-server
--------------
Both deb-package are 32bit-version of GoogleEarth.
!!! GoogleEarth 6.1 is stable version.
