It cannot and must not link to gtk3-based libraries, such as those belonging to gnome-panel-3.x If you want to use lablgtk-2.x under gnome-3, you need to emerge lablgtk with the gnome USE flag disabled. Thanks Alexandre, after emerging lablgtk with USE=-gnome I could also emerge unison.
