Sorry for my English :) I've had the same problem in version 7.2.0-r1. But icedtea-7.2.0-r3 successfully compiled when I set -march=i686 instead of -march=native in CFLAGS and CXXFLAGS variables for this package. Same issue here. on ~x86 -march=native or -march=core2 yields a SIGSEGV, -march=i686 builds fine. It would be interesting to figure out which of the -march=core2 subset the build disagrees with. I have this problem too, and I have a feeling that this is caused by an SSE instruction set. Try compiling with -march=nocona, -march=prescott, and -march=pentium4. If nocona works, then it's SSSE3 that's to blame; if prescott works, then it's something really weird with 64-bit extensions (which shouldn't be used, since it's compiling for 32-bit arch); if pentium4 works, then SSE3 is the problem. (In reply to comment #13) Interesting. '-march=nocona' works, but not '-march=native -mno-ssse3'... I'll look into it further. Workaround that works for me: 1) In make.conf CFLAGS="-O2 ...". Regardless of what is in the -march= 2) "emerge -1 zlib" 3) Return CFLAGS in make.conf to what you want 4) "emerge -1 ant-core ant-nodeps icedtea". Compiles fine We need to know which of the flags in -O3 affects zlib. P.S. Sorry for my english. I can confirm the exact problem with currently icedtea-7.2.3.3, but already had it for some time. (a) The problem seems to be caused by gcc when using -march= (pentimu4, in my case) and -O3. Some of the binaries created do SEGV when run. This is the case with icedtea build, but has also been observed with different binaries (e.g. jpeg libraries) before. My workaround still is to exchange -O3 with -O2 in the C(XX)FLAGS in /etc/portage/bashrc. (b) The problem with icedtea bild is caused by dev-java/icedtea-7.2.3.3/work/icedtea-2.3.3/openjdk*/hotspot/make/linux/makefiles/gcc.make contain "CFLAGS += -O3" (or the like, have it at home) after patches have been applied. My personal workaround is to stop the ebuild process when compiling starts (just after configuring & patching), fixing the file by hand, and finally foreground'ing the stopped job. If you'd ask, no, I won't file a bug upstream, because I don't have the time to isolate a test case for that, but if memory serves me well, gcc developers were very unwilling to help without one. Correction: -march=pentium-m, in my case. I'm going to close this very old bug as obsolete due to new comments for 5+ years. If it still happens with the current version, feel free to reopen. |
