Description Duncan Coutts (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-01-21 11:22:19 UTC
The current x86 stable version of gnomemeeting does not compile against the current x86 stable version of libxml2.

This is a known bug, because the ebuild for gnomemeeting-0.98.5 applies a patch to make it work with libxml2. However, gnomemeeting-0.98.5 is still masked. So people not using ~x86 will hit this build error.

Can we fix this by marking gnomemeeting-0.98.5 stable?
The gnomemeeting developers claim it is the latest stable version.

Alternatively, can we do gnomemeeting-0.98.0-r1 including the libxm2-2.6 patch?

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge libxml2 (to get latest stable version 2.6.3)
2. emerge gnomemeeting (to rebuild stable gnomemeeting-0.98.0)
3.

Actual Results:
gnomemeeting build fails on an error to do with changes in the libxml2 headers.
Not much detail is needed here, because someone has already patched it in the
ebuild for 0.98.5, but that doesn't resolve the inconsistency in the stable
portage tree.

Expected Results:
gnomemeeting-0.98.0 should build ok.

A temporary workaround is to emerge gnomemeeting-0.98.5
