Hotkeys don't work in most qt-applications, if the first layout is russian.
Applications with unworking hotkeys: kvirc, qutim, qbittorrent, smplayer, vacuum-im, virtualbox.
I don't have any problems with gtk-applications and skype.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Setup gnome keyboard layouts: set russian layout first and english layout second
2. Layunch kvirc
3. Press 'Ctrl+U'
Actual Results:  
strange symbol in input text area

Expected Results:  
pressed 'U' button (italic)

Sadly, I don't have any idea how hotkeys are handled under kde/qt apps :(, then, I don't know what is the culprit here, will CC kde/qt people to try to know more about what is needed for them to work ok

No, I have not.
No we have qt 4.8 and working 'ctrl+c/ctrl+v'.
Other shortcuts don't work.

Yes, only when russian layout is default.
We added and set default german layout, everything is ok.

Sadly, if this is a gnome problem it won't probably be solved for gnome2, not sure if some gnome team member using gnome3 could check how qt apps work on gnome3 with russian language :/

Very strange. I can confirm that the same issue exists with qt and kde applications (I tried konsole-4.8.0 and net-irc/kvirc-4.2_pre5816) in gnome-3.2, and that it occurs only if Russian is the first language in the layout list. Since I always put English first in the list, I had never noticed this bug before.

Do you have any idea about what piece is breaking this? (at first I think we should report this to upstream... but later I noticed I don't know what is causing this problem :S)

Removing kde from cc. No one replied in the last year. I would suggest to upstream this bug to gnome or qt projects.
