# emerge install-mask # install-mask -a systemd That's not a fix, that's a workaround at most. This has been discussed before on the Gentoo development mailing list. Having the files there does not hurt anything or generate extra dependencies, so having a USE flag for it is a bit pointless. If you don't want them, just use INSTALL_MASK.
