Description Frank Peters 2011-10-09 18:28:41 UTC
The extended function keys, F13-F24, which are accessible as Shift+Fn, where Fn are the ordinary function keys F1-F12, are broken by the package xkeyboard-config-2.4.1. Pressing the combination Shift+Fn within an application does not produce the intended extended function key.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Emerge xkeyboard-config-2.4.1 and restart X.
2. Open an application that used extended function keys, e.g. mc, cooledit.
3. Press the combination Shift+Fn
Actual Results:
The action specified by the extended function key does not occur.

Expected Results:
The action specified by the extended function key should occur.

Downgrading to xkeyboard-config-2.3 restores the Shift+Fn functionality.

In addition, xkeyboard-config-2.4.1 breaks Shift+Backspace and Shift+Delete: under older versions of xkeyboard-config they used to work the same as backspace and delete, but now they don't do anything.

This is very iconvenient when one makes a mistake while typing an all-caps string, e.g. a long macro name in C code.

Patch applied in 2.4.1-r1.
