That is quite an assumption to make and this bug has no real information to work on. Bouncing back to bug-wranglers. What else can I add? When I logged in there was some flickering on the screen in places where panels would be. After that no background, no panels, although I could start applications via F2 key. I didn't find anything unusual in the logs. When I started the xfce4-panel via command line in Terminal it only gave some laconic info that application crashed, or an error occured - like I would'n know that already ;-) Since the problem occured also after reinstalling the system (with the new version of gcc), maybe I had some use flags set such way it didn't work well with the new version of gcc, or something. On my other gentoo boxes the error didn't occur. But there's gnome installed and I switched to the new version of gcc but didn't rebuild the system with it. I let my weekly updates switch their systems to new gcc versions. So far it works without any problems. So far I have switched my own laptop to another distro and wait untill the problems with "halles" xfce stop, so I could switch back to using gentoo :-) Should I/We close the bug, then? |
